Privacy policy

iSaySo is a dictation app for macOS made by gAI Ventures ("we"). This policy explains what the app and our service process, what we keep, and your choices. Plain language is intentional; where it conflicts with law, the law wins.
What is processed when you dictate
- Audio. When you hold the dictation key, the microphone recording is sent over TLS to our service and forwarded to a speech-recognition model. It is processed in memory and not stored by us. Recordings are not kept after the response is returned.
- Text and on-screen context. The transcript, up to about 1,500 characters of text near your cursor (used to spell names correctly), your personal dictionary and your writing-style profile are sent with each request so the rewrite model can produce accurate text. They are processed and not retained by us. Password fields are never read. You can limit this in the app (
MURMUR_SCREEN_CONTEXT=namesoroff). - Companion mode. Text you select and ask about is sent the same way, processed, and not retained.
- Model providers. We use third-party AI model providers to transcribe and rewrite. We send them only what is needed for the request, under terms that prohibit training on your data. We do not sell data to anyone.
What we keep
- Account: your email address, plan, billing region, and a hashed device sign-in token per device.
- Usage ledger: per dictation, the word count, audio duration, cost and timestamp — numbers only, never the words themselves. Used for your allowance and billing.
- Billing: payments are handled by Stripe (USD) or Cashfree (INR). We store the customer and subscription identifiers they return; we never see or store your card or UPI details.
- Sign-in codes: the hash of a 6-digit code for 10 minutes.
What stays on your Mac
Your dictionary, snippets, profile, corrections and local usage history live in ~/.murmur/ on your Mac and are editable by you. The app never holds a model-provider API key; it holds a revocable device token in the Keychain. On the Free plan, and whenever you are offline, dictation runs entirely on your Mac and nothing is sent to us.
Where data is processed
Our service runs in the United States (AWS, us-east-1) behind a global content delivery network, and model providers process requests in the United States. If you are in India or elsewhere, your audio and text leave your country for the duration of a request.
Your choices and rights
- Sign out in the app or on the account page to revoke a device token.
- Email us to export or delete your account record and usage ledger. We delete within 30 days, except billing records we must keep for tax law (in India, typically 8 years).
- You may use the app on the Free plan with no account; nothing is sent anywhere.
Cookies and analytics
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. The payment page loads Cashfree's script to complete a payment you started. The account page keeps a sign-in token in your browser tab's session storage only until you sign out or close the tab.
Children
iSaySo is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes and contact
We will post changes here and update the date above. Questions, requests or complaints: support. Grievance officer under India's IT Rules: to be designated before launch.
